Singapore is the cleanest place I have ever been to. It kind of reminded me of those utopian cities you see on television (The one in the show The 100, springs to mind). I really enjoyed my time in Singapore and I considered adding it to the list of places I would like to live. However, It lacked Hipster coffee shops so I’m not sure. Priorities right?
Where we stayed:
The five stone hostel- Really liked this hostel. It was very clean and the location was perfect. Just a five minutes walk to the metro. Would defiantly recommend it to anyone who is in Singapore for a couple of days.
Things we did:
Shopping: Of course what else would we do. Forever shopping. Singapore doesn’t disappoint on that scale. The place is full of malls.
Hajia Lane– Come here if you are looking for boutiques and Vintage shops. There is also a coffee shop where you can get your selfie printed onto your latte. Yes, this is the world we live in now #Blessed.
Orchard Road- The road is basically just mall after mall after mall.
Marina Bay Sands Mall- Situated right under the world famous hotel The Marina Bay Sands. This is a luxury mall. There is a river where you can take a boat around the mall and an ice rink in the middle of the food court.
Gardens by the Bay- This place is stunning. It is also where the fluorescent man-made trees reside. They have a light show every night at 7:45 and 8:45 for 15 minutes. Definitely worth checking out.
Botanical Gardens- While you are there check out the UNESCO world heritage site, the orchid gardens. They have a cool VIP section of hybrid orchids that are named after different people of importance that have visited the gardens in the past. People such as Princess Diana, Will and Kate and even Bertie Ahern (Former Taoiseach of the ROI).
China Town- Very cool area. The food street is worth the trip. They also have some temples around that area. Which are cool to check out.
Explore the city- Singapore city isn’t that big. So it is easy to roam around it in a few days. The city is so well kept and it is so nice just to stroll around and take it all in.
Food & Drink:
Piedra Negra- An awesome Mexican right by our hostel. The art painted on the building wall is pretty cool. Definitely an Instagram spot.
BERGS Gourmet Burgers- Good burger stop. Again right by the hostel.
Salad Stop- I was obsessed with this spot. They were dotted everywhere around the city. The quinoa bowls were to die for.
Tuttie fruittie- A fro-yo place on Arab street.
Jo and the Juice- Good spot for lunch, coffee and of course a juice.
That is all we got up to in Singapore. If you do have a stop over in Singapore make sure to go into the city and explore. It is a beautiful city and so accessible thanks to the metro.
Till next time,
